This lavish antique Sarouk-Mehajeran is exceptional for its Navy Blue field color and classic Persian medallion format with wide border and continuous corner pieces are distinguished by the added epithet, Mehajeran. The arrangement and articulation of the intervening vine-scrolls is also more richly detailed. The rather large wide borders flanking the main one are also unusual, as is the use of the a terracotta accents with blue green across the entire carpet. The elements are reconfigured to produce the border design, where the palette of the field contrast with soft a terracotta ground that provides a lovely framing contrast for the navy field. The thick lustrous wool pile of the carpet combines beautifully with the richness of its design and coloration.
