Circa 1880's

ANTIQUE TEKKE TURKOMAN MAIN CARPET CIRCA 1880
Central Asian Tribal, Turkmenistan. The brick red ground covered by five rows of connected guls eighteen per row, surrounded by a red primary border of multi colored hooked octagons and full skirts of serrated leaf design and narrow ivory band at each end. Excellent allover pile condition for the collector or decorator, silky wool quality that gives the carpet a supple, velvety, drapery like to handle and very soft to touch. No repairs, no wear excellent for the age.
